Rata-rata satu kaleng soda mengandung 10 sendok the gula, 150 kalori, 30 – 55 mg kafein, pewarna buatan dan sulfit. Soda diet malah mengandung banyak pemanis buatan yang sama sekali tidak sehat. Masalah utama saat ini kebanyakan orang sekarang menjadikan soda sebagai “minuman pokok” setelah makan. Hasil studi yang terdapat pada jurnal Pediatrics menemukan bahwa 56 hingga 85% anak-anak mengkonsumsi sekurang-kurangnya satu kaleng soft drink tiap harinya dan 20 % remaja laki-laki mengkonsumsi 4 kaleng lebih tiap harinya. Kripik kentang (potato chips dan french fries)
Snack yang sangat populer ini mengandung acrylamide, sejenis karsinogen (zat pembentuk kanker) dan neurotoxin (racun syaraf ) yang terbentuk saat kentang digoreng dengan temperatur tinggi. Menurut Profesor Dale Hattis, seorang peneliti dari Universitas Clark mengatakan bahwa acrylamide telah mengakibatkan sekitar 1000 orang terkena kanker di Amerika. Ketika CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest), pernah melakukan penelitian terhadap beberapa French fries dengan merk terkenal, dan mereka menemukan kandungan acrylamide lebih banyak daripada fast food.
Bukan itu saja, jenis makanan ini juga mengandung lemak trans, sejenis lemak yang dapat menyumbat pembuluh nadi dan menyebabkan bertambahnya kolesterol jahat di dalam tubuh kita, yang pastinya meningkatkan resiko terserang penyakit jantung, diabetes, stroke dan kanker.

Apa yg membuat makanan ini sangat buruk, hal ini dikarenakan makanan jenis ini mengandung lemak trans yang sangat tinggi, dan juga mengandung banyak zat aditif, seperti sirup jagung (corn syrup), bahan pengawet, perasa dan pewarna buatan. Daging prosesan seperti sosis, bacon, pepperoni dan lainnya) mengandung zat karsinogen (zat penyebab kanker) yaitu sodium nitrit. Menurut hasil studi Universitas Hawai yang meneliti 200.000 orang selama 7 tahun, orang yang menkonsumsi banyak daging hasil prosesan (hot dog dan sosis) menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 67% beresiko kanker pankreas dibandingkan dengan orang yang tidak atau sedikit mengkonsumsinya.

Sup maupun makanan kalengan yang Anda bisa temukan dengan mudah di supermarket, kebanyakan sup kalengan mengandung lemak trans, MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) yang sangat tinggi. Dengan hanya mengkonsumsi satu kaleng sup tersebut, maka 1000 mg garam akan masuk ke tubuh.
